Who are we?
We are Samantha and Ashley; two adventurous, creative, and curious women. We met shortly after we had each been through a breakup and a divorce from the men in our lives. We discovered we were both bitten by the wanderlust bug and we had the same general outlook on life: it’s short, you only get one, we might as well make the most of the one we have. Then we accidentally fell in love right before Ashley had to move. We maintained a long distance relationship for 16 months, then we moved into a small cabin on a ship for 6 months together! From that ship we traveled to 36 countries and learned a lot about ourselves and the world. For the past two years we’ve been living in Sonoma County exploring some amazing places around Northern California. Why are we doing this?
Ashley is a social worker in a hospice and is witness to many people during their final moments. She has had patients ranging from their teens through their 90s and often hears peoples’ biggest regrets before they die. It has solidified the ideas that 1). you are never promised tomorrow, and 2). In order to avoid those regrets you have to live your best life according to you; not according to everyone else.
What is a life worth living to us? It’s traveling to gain a new perspective, it’s giving back to others, it’s creating things, it’s tasting foreign flavors never experienced, it’s feeling the rush of jumping out of an airplane, it’s finding and reinforcing our shared humanity in people who aren’t necessarily like us. Ultimately we believe that life is most rewarding when we take risks, challenge the status quo, and challenge ourselves.
There is no single “right'“ way to go through life. We all have to chose our own path whatever it might look like. We find it exciting to embrace this idea as we continue to travel, adapt to new personal identities, and grow into our most authentic selves.
